Prototyping design for belonging framework and toolkit with different communities
UT, Austin
A week-long immersion in the UT Design Department encouraged faculty, staff and students to explore design prompts and reflection tools to build their learning environment for greater belonging.
Oakland, CA
Exploring belonging on the streets of Oakland, California. Along with collaborator Tom Maiorana we had conversations with folks as they explored the madlibs “I know I belong in Oakland because _____.” and “Belonging in Oakland is like ____ because____.”
Belonging in the Outdoors
Experiment in Boise, Idaho looked at ways to get started exploring the intersection of belonging at work and belonging in the outdoors. The grid represented things to try with your team.
Columbus, OH
Work in Columbus has been learning about belonging through participatory design sprints. We’ve worked with youth experiencing homelessness, students doing distance learning and public benefits recipients grappling with changes in assistance and the “benefits cliff.”
Susie Wise
